Editing a Customer or Billing Account
The Create Billing Account screen enables an Account Manager to create a billing account and associate it with a customer account. The fields can be updated until the account is submitted.
Besides creating billing accounts, financial decisions that a business partner may make can require an Account Manager to take actions that affect billing accounts:
Suspending - A billing account suspension is meant to be temporary. The account can be reinstated. An account could be suspended for non-payment.
Inactivating - When a billing account is inactivated, it can never be reactivated.
Reinstating - An account that has been suspended can be reinstated.
Reassigning - If one business partner obtains ownership of all or part of another partners business, they must report this to PennDOT so accounts can be reassigned to the new business partner. The Account Manager can reassign a billing account to a different customer account by clicking the Reassign button on the toolbar or clicking the Reassign link in the Actions menu on the left navigation panel The Reassign button and link are hidden if the billing account Status is ‘Preliminary’, ‘Inactive’, or ‘Pending Inactivation’.
